11-28-08 launches KO’s “Flatte Black” Nail Polish
KO (read: Knock Out) Cosmetics is the creation of make up artist Mike Potter, best known for his iconic work in creating the hair and make up for the Broadway and Film versions of groundbreaking “Hedwig & the Angry Inch".
From that acclaim, Potter broke into the world of film, fashion, music and advertising with his special interpretation of beauty with an edge
After watching the continuous trend of dark nails over the years, Potter wanted yet never saw “Flatte Black Nail Polish.” Almost every character Potter has put to film has worn black nails thus he felt it was an appropriate first release, and to do so on Black Friday. The Polish is inspired by a mix of Victoriana meets Art Deco, meets ultimate grunge rock chic. Potter felt it time to create products that have his sense of aesthetic. “I love things that are classic and timeless. Like Marilyn’s red lips, things that stand the test of time. I want to put a new twist on old classics, or maybe create a new classic if I am lucky. What is more classic that Black and White,” say Potter.
Expect to see the “couture” collection span into a full line of cosmetics over the next year. The second piece of his collection is a flatte white nail polish called Powder which debuts December 1st.
The Deco designed frosted glass bottle is edgy yet beautiful, a treasure to display on your vanity table. The packaging is like no other with dripping rubber sealing and encasing fresh water pearls (Pearls to collect with each bottle). Reminiscent yet modern in its design and color.
His celebrity following is a testament to his talent. Working with icons of music like Debbie Harry, Karen O of The Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Avril Lavigne , Hollywood actors like Katie Holmes and Patricia Clarkson. He’s worked with photographers like Carter Smith, Pamela Hanson, Richard Avedon and Steven Klein. Potter felt it was time to create products that have his sense of aesthetic.
Just like a pearl is one of a kind, so is KO.
KO Flatte will be available at the Gary Graham Boutique in ABC Carpet & Home, www.garygrahamnyc.com as well as on www.koknockout.com for $35.00.
